Welcome to the Activar Construction Products Group – representing divisions 7, 8, 10, 12 and 20. Our 5 companies - JL Industries, Air Louvers, Samson Products, Thomas Enterprises and Hiawatha, Inc combine resources and over 200 years of experience to deliver the results you need. We are passionate about providing quality products, excellent customer service and the fastest delivery in the industry.
The Activar Construction Products Group (ACPG) is part of privately-owned Activar Incorporated which operates companies in a variety of industries.
Based in the US, with headquarters in Minnesota, we operate three manufacturing facilities; Commerce California, Bloomington Minnesota and Fort Myers Florida, and employ over 300 in those locations. In addition, we stock products in five regional warehouses – Lancaster Pennsylvania, Chicago Illinois, Dallas Texas, Seattle Washington and Atlanta Georgia providing just-in-time shipping to all eight major metropolitan areas. Since the founding of the first ACPG company – JL Industries in 1947, we have grown steadily and enhanced our offerings through product innovation, acquisition and strategic partnerships. Today, we continue to build on those foundations, and are dedicated to personal service through our experienced factory reps for JL, Thomas and Samson, and our extended network of manufacturer’s representatives for Hiawatha and Air Louvers. We still call on customers, return phone calls and pick up the phone! We want to make doing business with us easy and help you find creative solutions to your challenges.
Through our membership with organizations such as the Door and Hardware Institute (DHI), Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), Green Building Council (GBC) and the National Association of Fire Equipment Distributors (NAFED), we keep pace with code changes and evolving industry requirements. We are constantly testing new or improved products and gaining the certifications to meet current building codes. In 2010, we obtained certification for 2 products from the Florida Building Code authority for a Hurricane rating, and we are currently seeking bullet-resistant ratings on vision lites. Need LEED points for your project? Although our products may not be a big part of your LEED-certified building, it’s not all about the certification, it’s about good business practices and our future. Our aluminum, stainless steel and powder-coated steel products qualify for the EQ 4.2 Low-Emitting and the MR4.1 and 4.2 Recycled content Credits. Permanently-installed entrance floor gratings and mats can qualify for the Recycled content plus the EQ 5 Indoor Environmental Quality Credits. We have added PYRAN® Platinum F glazing by SaftiFirst which qualifies for the ID Innovation in design credit as well as the EPP federal government preferred-product program and is produced without use of heavy metals. American-made products dominate our product lines, and we proudly offer certification for products in Division 7, 8, 10, 12 and 21.
